It may be a mistake picking this serious historical fiction up after finishing some rompy steamy stuff.

Enjoying this but the set up is awkward and unbelievable.

Only 10% in but the story feels forced and sappy and precious. Not really the endearing heart warmer that it was made out to be. Continue? Or not for me? 🤔

I’m incredibly bored and I find the writing style to be irritating. If I finish… I’m waffling between 2 because it feels like she wants to hit me over the head with her message or 3 because I had decent expectations.

I’m listening to the audiobook and although I don’t find fault with the writing exactly, I am over 3 hours in and waiting for something interesting to happen. Maybe I’m not a fan of historical fiction anymore? I’m not very into this.

Reading for Pie Book Club, but despite the great reviews, I have no interest. Now I’m about a third of the way through and it’s just dark, and kinda gross, and I’m not thrilled with finishing. Considering skipping the Ansel chapters.

Taking a short break to breathe. This book is just a lot right now. Painfully, tragically real.

How can I be 80% done and still not really know where this is going and what the point is? Aren’t we wrapping it up soon?

This is a slog. The writing is good but nothing much happens and it's very culturally nuanced.
