This is a first. An interactive book with puzzles for the reader. I’m intrigued. If you read this, buy it, don’t get it on loan. You mark up the pages, circle clues, figure out math riddles, it’s definitely not a book to take to bed. There’s someone you can email if you get stuck on a puzzle. This is the really kind of cool (so far)

You’d think a book about scuba diving, buried treasure, and sea witches would be right up my alley. This is boring!!!!!!!!!

There is not one likeable character in this book. Not one.

I’m well over halfway through through and this is nothing but a (bad) teen romance. We have established the world has gone to hell due to a corrupt government and she kills (most) people that touch her because she has some kind of poisonous skin. Oh and she can crash through cement if she gets realllllyyyyyyy maddddd. (But she’s No monster. Nuh uh).

Wtf is this…? A true example of the train wreck metaphor. I’m gagging on what I’m reading and yet I can’t stop.

What am I missing????? This is absolute shit so far. “Unbelievable” doesn’t even begin to describe it. Stereotypical young housekeeper with crush on boss and wife is homicidal-ly crazy. I’ll give it to the middle where it’s supposed to pick up speed, but so far this is a predictable eye-roller. Hope I’m wrong.

….. it’s not getting any better. I’m already skimming. The fact that he’s complaining about being a “spare”, that he was born for “spare parts” for the heir.. instead of saying what it really was. All the perks of the heir but less than half the responsibility. Can’t wait to get to the chapter about his circumcision (eye roll). I’m giving it to page 100.

Extremely dramatic so far. Cue the violins. He’s over selling it. Maybe he’ll settle into more of a biography-esque nature as he gets warmed up. As of right now, claiming he and he is wife left “fleeing for their lives” is already causing my eyes to roll far back enough that I fear they might get stuck there. Does that sound dramatic? It’s nothing compared to this. I’ll give it to page 100.

Three stars for finishing it. But no more Riley Sager for me. I roll my eyes way too many times and constantly hope with each page it will get better. Spoiler alert: I’m fine with supernatural stuff and I’m fine with a good twist, but this just wasn’t vague enough at the beginning to have me believe the shift in the direction of the story 3/4 of the way through.

Holy shit I’m only 13% done and I wanna give up.

I’m going in…. Wish me luck. This is a big one.

It’s just written too slowly for me. When you know the story already, it can’t drag on too long. If you’ve never heard the story of Achilles you might like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I loved it at first, like obsessed. And now I’m like, wtf. This is stupid. Does it get better again? Because now I’m just annoyed at how ridiculous it’s become.
