Cassandra. is starting The Downstairs Girl
This book is listed as Young Adult. I am 75 years old & I loved it! I learned about the “importing” of workers from China to provide cheap labor during Reconstruction, & the extreme prejudice that followed! I loved the main character! A fast enjoyable read! I will read more books by Stacy Lee!

VERY strange writing style! Some great descriptions, worthy of writing down in my book of quotes. However, at this point I am not sure I am going to finish reading this book. Hmmmm . . .?

I loved A Man Called Ove. One of my favorite books. I had high hopes for this book, but so far it is NOT HOLDING MY INTEREST.

Cassandra.
Cassandra. is on page 307 of 496 of Leaving Time
There are only 398 pages left in the actual story. I am not enjoying the direction in which it is going. I confess to reading ahead. I am not a fan of the supernatural.

Oh, my. I have read every book in the Kearney series. I loved each & every one! I was looking forward to reading the prequel trilogy; I purchased all three. So far, a big disappointment. So, so slow! I am on page 143 in Hard Country. I do not know if I can continue.

Cassandra. is on page 216 of 350 of Missing, Presumed (DS Manon, #1)
Difficult to get thru this one. I love mysteries & have read many British mysteries. However, from the very beginning there are way too many references to British landmarks, colloquialisms, performers(?), etc. I have never been to England & have no frame of reference. My bad! Not sure I will be able to finish this book.

Enjoying the story/stories, altho' difficult subjects. Great writing!
One question - why so many different fonts? I thought something was wrong with my eyes.

Sure would love a glossary of Russian terminology & words. Disconcerting that this "historical history" occurred when I was a teacher & a young mother. Pre-media bombardment. Love this book!

Cassandra. is on page 103 of 419 of Gone Girl
"Sleep is like a cat: It only comes to you if you ignore it." "It seemed to me that there was nothing new to be discovered ever again. . . We were the 1st human beings who would never see anything for the first time. We stare at the wonders of the world, dull-eyed, underwhelmed. . . I can't recall a single amazing thing I have seen firsthand that I didn't immediately reference to a movie or a TV show."

Certainly not an advertisement for tourism in Puerto Rico! My daughter is a "foster" for a rescue group in AZ., so I was interested in reading this book. I hope I am able to finish it. Unwanted, deserted animals is one thing, but reading about humans (?) torturing them for enjoyment is SICKENING. I am surprised that Stephan stayed sane!
