I’ve gone through two different mis-prints so now I’m waiting for a *fingers crossed* new book to arrive so I can continue reading this book. (Which is pretty good so far.)

I'm actually sobbing because I know this book will soon be over AND I DON'T WANT IT TO BE. I'm already thinking about the next time I'm going to read it, and how soon after finishing it would it be appropriate to do so. Bloody hell.

I love that I can pick this book up at where I've left it, and it could be that I'm midday through a chapter, and I delve right back into the story like no time has passed.

I bought this book at the Sydney Writers' Festival in 2018. I bought a lot of books at that festival. The problem is, while I promised myself I would read them all, I haven't read a single one. Today, I walked past Millefiori for the millionth time. I caught myself thinking 'I should get around to reading that' and changed it to 'why the hell not now?!' So that's what I'm doing (and enjoying it).

WHY AM I CRYING???

I’m really enjoying this. I’m sneaking in pages at every chance I get—on the way to work, in waiting rooms, on the bus, when I want a break from studying, in between naps. The best line so far includes the first swear word—"My dad’s a weird guy. I say weird but what I mean is epically fucking strange."—because then the author goes on to describe my grandad. To a tee. But I love him, and I’m loving this book.

I didn't keep my 2018 reading goals and failed the reading challenge, but I found I read more frequently in the first half of the year and that I OFTEN MADE TIME FOR READING. I'm going to repeat the 52 books a year challenge - as well as reading every day and reading more women, queer and POC-authored literature - going forward because, even if I don't quite get there, I love carving out time for some book lovin'.

I forgot about this and just found the book, so I’m just gonna pick up from where I left off...

‪I’m currently sitting in the cinema, trying to fit in one more chapter before the movie starts. I’ve clearly failed to finish the book, but OH MY FUCKING GOODNESS I’ve fallen in love so. damn. hard.—and I’m not even a quarter of the way through!‬

‪I haven’t been this excited about a book in YEARS and I haven’t put it down since I started and I can’t wait to continue to pore over the pages once I get home.
