Started from the beginning because I clearly did not absorb the information the first time. I'm trying to be more intentional this time.

It has occurred to me that despite having read the boom ten or so years ago, I've never seen any of the films or the stage adaptations. I'm going through The Alice Walker section of my library so I'll re-read the book first, then seek out the film versions. Seems like something I should see, "for the culture." As for this book, I'm really enjoying the layout and visual aspects of it, in addition to the interviews.

I guess I'm starting all my massive, weapon-sized books in January.

I really want to finish this book today but I have work to do 🥲 it's so good. History is already interesting, but the history of a language revolution? Top tier. The first two chapters so far have mostly been a review of things I'd heard of before, but I definitely didn't know the specifics of the typewriter or the personal lives of the inventors

It's finally time to see what this book is all about. Not fond of the person who recommended it, nor am I fond of the genre, but I'll give it a whirl and try not to judge it *too* harshly.

Absolutely wild to hear this girl describe her physical attraction to Mao Zedong
