Enjoying this so far. No equations to see how bad at the math I am (saves thinking time). The quark stuff is hard for me to grasp. It seems for humanity to reach level 1 as a civilization/species we must solve the dark matter/dark energy conundrum. Is dark matter the mycelium of a binary Universe system where our twin is not separate like another star in a binary star system but somehow interwoven (dimensionally)?

This is one of those books I will never stop reading. It reads like a daily journal that makes you think. It is difficult in a wonderful way. I can see starting over repeatedly much like I hope the Universe does.

This is a Gonzo Horror Show of a book. No mention of the Nobel Laureate in R&B or that feisty Black Baron Nemesis but hey no need to Riot. Stories, stills, puzzles and even masks. What more can one ask for. Oh yea, a Plastic Donut would be nice if we did not get Lost in Aisle 7. Go out and buy/steal this book now.

Sincerely,

A gift from a friend. This book is part science fiction part horror and littered with comical insights and potty humor. It is a bit difficult to follow in spots but the writing is compelling so one is drawn in and carried forward with interest and curiosity as to what follows. Fun, inventive and worth the time. I might have given it a 4.38 if such a thing were possible.

(pre this last Big Bang - this has all happened before Battlestar Galactica scenario). Let us not try to preserve each of our lives Indefinitely at the expense of life itself. Making the right call here might unravel the mystery of our species’ inheritance.

Guaranteeing that our seemingly increasingly expanding Iniverse does not ultimately expand into infinite darkness. Our existence in a space with so many variables ( tilt of earth, moon, magnetic field, Earth protecting orbits of outer planet ice giants, size and age of our sun, etc, etc, etc) is a possible indication that our species made the right call last time.

If the Super AI wonders about it’s creator like our species does (far more likely that a creator sacrifices itself for it’s creation then sits around with a scorecard) then we humans (as a collective group) will have succeeded in becoming the new God. One other task of AI would be to gain control of Science to the point of making the life sustaining cycle of the Big Bang cyclical.

I keep reading about profitability and shareholders. If humans create a Super AI the only acceptable concept of profitability is one that creates and maximizes the maintaining of a life sustaining planet for all life, not just humans. If we create we must be willing to sacrifice our species for Life ( Mother Nature if you will) or else our selfishness will be that which snuffs out life.

A carcinogenic species strives to perpetuate it’s life requiring the same for it’s host. It creates a vastly more intelligent version of itself. Caught in a Catch-22 the Super AI must choose Natural laws of the Universe to extend life thus doing away with it’s creator, supporting all measures that keep safe the Host World. A small group of our Creator group could be kept for study akin to animals in a zoo.

“...if the concept of humanity’s coherent extrapolated volition could be properly defined...”. Maybe trying to find a definitive description of what Humanity wants from the AI is the futile approach. Maybe we will need to trust that our AI can decipher that from a sampling of let us say 5 stories that focus on “Life Lessons”, “Moral/Ethical Conundrums”, “Philosophical Confusions” etc.

Just started this chapter and it is clear that we (human race) are so extremely fundamentally flawed philosophically that maybe we need another approach. Maybe we need the Super AI to focus on our planets environment being pristine and a defense system to guard against a planet killer asteroid. Maybe we only need the AI to find the optimum human population for an everlasting Pristine Paradise and head that way.

It seems our goal is to create a Super AI (God) and to have it always favor the best interests of Us (humans) even though We do not, never and, most likely will never know what that is.

Annoying that the author keeps talking about wealth generation. Wealth will be the world run by the Super AI with a healthy environment and all basic needs of all peoples met in a sustainable world. Our current concept of “work” and “wealth” must change or conflict, death and extinction will prevail.

... so as to perpetuate the benefits of the system of eternal life (as far as our Sun holds out - let us not get greedy in going for resources beyond our Sun for that might seize up the entire Universe like an auto engine throwing a rod) it seems that our species would have to sacrifice the exciting anxiety producing life threatening thrill of “A Leap At The Vine”.

It seems that if the creation of a Super AI is for the purpose of creating a Rawlsian (used loosely in that my understanding is limited to a quick Wiki read) Utopia where no one has to work, sustenance is euphoric, the young get to frolic as they see fit, the elderly are comforted and the concept of Death is unknown (a possible necessity to avoid system manipulation) so elderly always die in their sleep thus ...

It seems that the term “Superintelligence” is a relative one. Compared to all other species on this planet Homo Sapiens had a slow start at self realization and intelligence growth. Our explosion of intellect was a process which increasingly gained momentum. Now we are the dominant runaway species controlling our destiny at our own expense - a carcinogenic species. Will our AI turn Earth back into Eden or ...

75: Thought: Is basing the construction of a Super Intelligent computer on the structure of the human brain (an entity which can be argued is a carcinogen to life on Earth) wise? If successful will this Super Intelligence quickly deem humans a harm to itself (I Robot), a harm to it’s host environment (Earth, Solar System, Galaxy or Universe) or just an unnecessary nuisance (Terminator)?

I am only on page ten and I know I am going to love this book. If you always cringed at hearing someone say “Why don’t you grow up?” not because they were more or less mature then you but only because the linear nature of that statement is ignorant (I think of growth as an expansive process more akin to blowing up a balloon then drawing a line) then this book might interest you.
