My experience reading this book:

This book is so strange...*giggle*...*reads footnote aloud to husband*...what does this word mean?....this book is good...but strange...but good...*repeat for several hundred pages*

I am loving this book so much. I am also glad I'm reading it electronically so I can easily look up the meaning of unfamiliar words.

I love books like this, with all the seemingly unconnected stories and mysterious symbols and a fantastical world you can only see if you squint sideways.

I love this so much that I just closed the book. If I hadn't, I would have finished it all tonight and I want to savor it over a longer period of time.

More books needs the characters arguing with each other about what is happening in the main text as marginalia.

Barely into the first story and Charlie Jane Anders takes a dig at romance novels, shelving them (literally) on the misogynistic half of the bookstore, representing a conservative America, with books on self-reliance, war novels, and Ayn Rand. Let's stop taking pot shots at romance novels. It's a genre written predominantly by women, for women, featuring women who get what they want, and good sex is only part of it.

If My So-Called Life were a book instead of a TV show and rebooted for 2019, The Infinite Pieces of Us is what you would get. The characters map over pretty seamlessly.

Well, I want to slap her less than I did in book two, but I also feel like she isn't growing as a character. Her entire life revolves around her relationships with other people and I don't feel like she's doing anything for herself. It's all about going to college with her boyfriend and planning an ridiculously overdone wedding for her dad, which he doesn't want. Dump Peter and go to culinary school, Lara Jean!

Mary Oliver is one of those authors that o have to read in a physical copy, because I want to underline, and write in the margins, and ruminate over her words. I know that I will be a different person - a better person - at the end of her books than I was at the beginning.

This is like Harry Potter as told through the point of view of Hermione Granger, but instead of getting sent to Hogwarts, she gets sent to the school in An Ember in the Ashes, but it's set in a fictionalized China.

A meaty epic fantasy. This is about an occupied country rebelling against their oppressors with guerrilla tactics while you also have several characters who have special gifts (magic?) and their involvement (or lack of) in the war. It's good, but not something I can sit down and read all in one go.
