Tanya is on page 74 of 324 of One of the Good Guys
I came onto goodreads to see the comments and if it was worth continuing. I skimmed read from that page to page 74 where the story seems to be actually starting. The previous pages seem just setting the scene and droning in about a failed marriage and how perfect the lead character finds himself.

57% in I decided to skip all the ‘days before chapters’ and just read the ones by Heather which are set in the ‘now’

If it wasn’t for a previous review saying it gets better towards the end I would give up. It is still setting the scene with way too much unnecessary drama, Just get to the point.

My dad really rated this fantasy book and it has a good rating on Goodreads but I just can not connect with it. It’s very slow going in my view. I’m going to shelve it and maybe return one day.

Tanya is on page 40 of 275 of Never Let Me Go
If anyone could convince me to carry on I may give it another go but this is just boring me so far. I have no idea what I am reading and it seems all very depressing. I might keep dipping in and out as I kind of want to know what is happening.

Tanya is starting The Boy Who Followed His Father into Auschwitz
3/5 The description and the buildups at the beginning says the is reads like a novel but sadly it doesn’t. This is very much a factual/documentary style of writing and very good for students or anyone wanting to study this sad event. Very much in line with a text book. #theboywhofollowedhisfatherintoauschwitz #jeremydronfield #auschwitz #ww2

Tanya is on page 60 of 536 of The Lost Daughter
0 out of 5 This book has two titles and accoutring to someone on Goodreads a third. I’m guessing the author has kept trying to reinvent it to make it better. It’s such a shame as I am such a Diane Chamberlain fan and have loved all the book I have read so far but I just can not get into this one. At first I could not work out what it was about and so did what I hate doing and turned to the reviews.

I'm shelving another C L Taylor. I used to love her books but this is the second one I just can't gel with.

It has really good reviews but 89 pages in and I am just bored. It must get better when the actual story starts but at the moments it scene setting and just not gripping me enough.

I'll read something else and then come back it.

Tanya is on page 29 of 320 of The Children's Block: Based on a True Story by an Auschwitz Survivor
NONFICTION

Oh dear second book in a row I am giving up on.

This lacks connection with the reader, it has no emotion and is very text book. I guess it would be OK in education where just facts are needed but not as a piece of literature where you want to feel part of the story and drawn in.

I may return to it but I know I have other books on my tbr that are more worthy of my time.

I'm struggling. If you are a romance fan then all the sex or want of sex will thrill you.

I am a thriller fan, JUST GET ON WITH THE SCAREY STUFF WILL YOU!. I don't care who sleeps with who or slept with who or wining over ex boyfriends. Just kill someone already!

I'm skipping chunks of it because its spending too much time setting the scene, sob sob sob stories, it better all mount to something at the end.

SELF HELP (Recommended by a friend)

I was recommended this book and really enjoyed the first half. But then I started to think it wasn't for me. I guess the religious side got the better of me and so disagree with her spiritual guidance (none religious) way to pray, etc.
I think I need to do steps one and two become comfortable with them and then look at the other steps. Maybe that would work better.

Tanya is finished with Young Nanny: A Victorian Girl's Diary, 1850
A really lovely read, felt really sad for the maids and nanny of 1859 and the conditions of London in that time. It was exciting reading how the first Crystal Palace was built. A great book can't wait for my daughter to read it in a few years time.
