I was looking for something to listen to that’s not the news and is not depressing and this has been on my shelf for a very long time and it is definitely fitting the bill. I mean certainly it’s a little bit depressing because of being a woman, but it is, on the whole, powerful.

Part 6 is bumming me out. Oh, Philipos.

Good lord this book is long! I keep checking to see how much more I have to go and wondering how there could possibly be so much more left. At least with Goldfinch there was progression. I’m invested but I’m eager to get through it.

I’m loving the world building!

I’m thoroughly enjoying the audiobook.

Ugh it’s turning into an annoying love story. Please tell me it picks up again.

I’m on chapter 7 and I’m not sure I’m going to be able to finish this audiobook. Kingsolver reads it herself and has a grating voice. There are loooong conversations between characters that are so unlike actual conversations. I don’t care about any of the characters except maybe Tig, who I know very little about. I’m mildly interested in where the stories will converge but not enough to keep going.

I’ve only gotten through the first two chapters but I’m already in love. I’m listening to it on audible.

Heard this was good so thought I’d give it a try. 2 hours later I’m having to force myself to go to bed because it’s late and a school night.

I’m not sure I’m going to keep reading this. It just isn’t gripping me.

I’m bored! It hasn’t hooked me yet.

I am more into the parts thst take place in the 1850s so far.

I don’t have a ton of patience for books about very young precocious children, especially told from their point of view. But I will see this through.

This is my kind of book: lyrical writing that I can ride along with, like floating over gentle wave after wave, with no idea where we’re going, just enjoying the experience.

Somewhere around the middle, this book went in a direction I didn’t expect and I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Beautiful and lyrical and so much better than another book about bees I also started this week for a book club. I’m going to read this one instead.
