Taking a break from my Vonnegut read through to tackle some graphic novels I’ve had on the shelf for some time. Reviews coming soon!

What a breath of fresh air in the echo chamber that is Marvel and Superhero comics in general. Super relatable as we have all been laying in our bed at night after drinking too much coffee, ruminating the big questions. The cartoon style leads one to believe this will be an easy read, but the author tackles pretty big philosophical questions, with visuals that border on psychedelic fervor to match the complexity.

I have a feeling this this book is either for hardcore Crumb fans, or readers actually interested in dreams. These stories have some narrative value as Crumb injects his own analysis into his nightly wandering. But I can’t see this being interesting for casual readers.

Was also expecting more comics because it is, you know, the man himself. But this book is mostly text with a handful of illustrations.

If you like books about aborted fetuses, a man cursed to seeking revenge on other people’s enemies, and children murdering frosty the snowman because they “want to play summer games now”, then this is your book.

Fantastically dark and brilliantly funny. Refreshing.
