The middle of the book is ghastly slow. Fortunately, things speed up again around page 450.

Quite good so far. The interaction between Fitz and Cub is engaging, and the plight of the folk of the Kingdom is showing signs of changing.

I’m certain I’ve read this before, but I remember nothing of the story so it’s probably been 20 years. Still very good, though!

The characters are a delightful array of early 20th century aristocrats, plutocrats, and the folk who serve them.

Definitely a TA novel, not really connecting with it.

Niven really became a better writer between this work (1966) and Protector (1967 or 1970). There's more of 1960's cultural attitude in World of Ptavvs, but it remains a really good story and it lives up to my fond memories of it well.

So far, a very pleasant science-romance sort of book.
