This book is improving and I'm really enjoying it now, I now realise that the reason she's so dislikeable at the start is so we can see her attitude change as she is influenced by the characters she meets. I love Oscar the owl ... (Beebee - don't tell him I called him that)

Not liking the main protagonist, such a whiny, ungrateful, dislikeable person.

So far I'm disliking the main character so much, I'm unsure about continuing. She is such a whiny, complaining, rude individual I can't warm to. I don't mind complex, unreliable characters but she is just a pain!

I'mve been anticipating this for so long and now I'm reading it I'm finding it is dragging somewhat and harder to follow than the rest of the books in the and the previous trilogy. I will press on, as I must know what happens.

Enjoying this book, great writing, but a touch too much detail and repetition, making it slow and hard going.

Finding it difficult to wade through the verbal diarrhoea to reach the actual point of the story. May give up, though this is anathema to me.

Loving this so far.

I first read this when it was brand new. Its probably one of the first "Young adult" books I read back when I was .... well, a young adult! I remember loving it and wonder if it will still impress me now I'm in my 60s.

Loving the historical part but Oh my goodnes what a wishy washy, mimsy character the modern day protagonist is!

I'm very excited about this book, as I began reading it it really grabbed my attention and made me think "now this is the book I've been waiting the last 10 years for" Feels like reading Philip Pullmann, it has a definite Northern lights vibe.

Oh dear me. The book of lost things is one of my top 10 books of all time and I was beside myself when I heard about this unexpected sequel. But I am struggling through it like wading through porridge. It feels contrived and repetitive and I'm contemplating giving up on it before finishing. Very sad 😥

So far I'm riveted by this book. Hoping it keeps me enthralled as I've had a bit of a reading slump lately and am desperate for a read which keeps me entertained until the end.

Not getting into this so far, very disjointed and slow, may have to put it aside and read something a little more engaging.

Loving the story and characters but many discrepancies regarding it being set in 1952 are a touch annoying.
