Didn’t hook me after 100 pages, so putting it down to move onto something else. Maybe everything pays off at the end, and I’m missing an amazing ending, but it seemed like the author was trying to fit way too much into every part of the story. Too much description, too much backstory, too many characters, etc.

I’m a sucker for exploration books, especially ones that combine historical content with the author’s own journey, and this one did not disappoint. I liked the author’s discussion surrounding the critiques of the expedition, and the aftermath of the journey was fascinating as well.

Really well written, and fantastic so far. I’m generally not a huge autobiography fan, but the style of this book is excellent. A quick read as well, just tough to sit for too long with it, while also reading about the current political climate and news.

Griping, tense, impossible to put down.
