London might really be nothing but this book isn’t much either. 🫤

It’s been awhile but I had forgotten that I’m not a big fan of “woe is me, loveless millionaire” romances. Added bonus of it being a vampire and this one just feels a little tacky.

I know I said I was liking this one more but, ugh these guys are annoying. And this isn’t the first time I say this while reading one of E. Lockhart’s books so that’s clearly a thing with her.

I read We Were Liars in two days, I can’t remember if I wasn’t feeling well or just trying to avoid the upcoming holiday, but I think I’m liking this one a little more.

I was going to wonder if Lucille Ball knew an unflattering picture of hers was used in this but then realized it was published a year after her death.

The last chapter was six months in 1927, suddenly the next one is 1934 but it picks up the following morning?

For someone who hasn’t seen the movie in years and isn’t much of a fan the songs are coming far too easily to me.

Read some (mainly the Fred Astaire bits), skimmed some (mainly the minor bits of her personal life), had to go back to get full details on Katherine Hepburn being horrible.

I skipped ahead a few chapters to get to her going to Hollywood but then had to go back once I realized I skipped over her marrying her aunt’s boyfriend.
It’s all interesting enough that skipping isn’t necessary but I’m just not in the mood for some early years details.

I started this as an audiobook but wasn’t paying enough attention so I switched to an ebook but am just not focusing. Maybe I should try them together 🤷🏻‍♀️

A life time ago I not only would have finished this by now but I probably would’ve already reread it.

A part of me wants to be annoyed that she keeps going off topic but I am loving the early days of Hollywood history lesson.

My back hurts just listening to this. Alright that’s not true my back always hurts, but it is giving me flashbacks to my own scoliosis days.

It’s so tedious I can’t bring myself to care as much as I actually do.

I watched the miniseries and am intrigued enough with the plot to stick around but it’s just so tedious.

We’d save a lot of time if they’d stopped giving mini biographies for almost every person Gene came into contact with.

These two spent a lot of time looking at budgeting and box office charts and they want you to know it.

Skipped a couple of chapters, while I appreciate the thorough research I really don’t need an entire play by play of everything he did.

Nothing like listening to a book on regulating the nervous system and being disrupted by someone who screws with your nervous system. 😖

This keeps reminding me that when I was little I went to a pirate themed party and the pirate name given to me (personalized on both a hat and cutlass) was Black Dog Diana. Was never a big fan of that name.

Interesting how the first Cabot historical romance to keep my attention is the one where the two protagonist aren’t simply lusting after one another. 🤔

At almost 500 pages you’d think someone in editing would have realized they might have shortened it by removing all the repeated descriptions of how she chose to wear her hair.

Not entirely sure how The Real Bad Friend is associated with Psycho other than the author also wrote the book the movie is based on and it has a similar vibe. It would make a good movie though.

I know a lot of people don’t like It’s a Wonderful Life, but I’ve got a bit of a history with it so it means a little more to me and I liked the story just the same. It’s probably somewhat better if only because it’s not as long winded as the movie.

Are proofreaders not a thing anymore?

Seeing as how It Happened One Night is my favorite movie I had hoped I’d have enjoyed the story a bit more but not so much.

High Noon: I paid about as much attention to the story as I did to the movie.

I guess there’s a conversation worth having about Freaks, both film and story.

Guys and Dolls is a perfect example of good musicals coming from dull stories.

What even is the point of The Heartbreak Kid?

Ten years ago at the Festival of Books I went to E. Lockhart’s signing where she gave me a bookmark for this book that was publishing soon, that was my main interest for reading it but cannot wrap my mind around the fact that it’s been ten years.
