SG is 10% done with The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma
This is a textbook. I thought this was like...a spiritual guidance something, I'm not sure. But this is a textbook.

I've been having to force myself to put this down so that I'm focused on actually eating/going to bed.

SG is 22% done with I Love Russia: Reporting from a Lost Country
It's going to take me forever to get through this. I can only read like 10 pages at a time before I have to give my soul a break.

There are some real gems of facts in here, even if we haven’t escaped the hero worship; all things considered, I think that can be excused.

Really digging the letter from George Washington to his spy master saying "I just remembered that I am supposed to use a code name when corresponding with you, but I have forgotten my code name."

Shoutout to Robert Townsend for not being discovered as a member of the Culper Ring until 1930.

I've learned that Gilbert got shot at the Battle of Brandywine and didn't notice (??? idk, adrenaline?) until someone pointed out the blood pouring out of his boot...like, a full hour or so later. They were like "Oh my God, sir" and he was like "De rien." He refused medical attention until anyone under his supervision was treated first, and this isn't even the most badass thing he'd done by the age of 19.

I started with one book a week ago and somehow, in that time, I have found myself in the grips of a full-on Marquis de Lafayette rabbit hole. I fear I will soon be logging into archives and reading diaries. "Sorry, I'm busy. I need to read about what Gilbert was doing in 1786, in his own words."

This is why I have 3 friends.

SG
SG is on page 192 of 384 of Where the Crawdads Sing
For anyone (like me) who sometimes avoids books with a cult following because they are often objectively terrible:

I sat down last night and read 192 pages of this. I had to force myself to put it down and go to sleep. I woke up and then walked around the house reading it while I made coffee and watered plants.

It's worth your time.

I had to return this to the library before I could finish it so we had to take a pause. So far utterly fascinating!
