Not a fan of how the narrative keeps dropping these "if only we'd known how bad things were going to get" lines every chapter or two—it feels cheap, especially because we're over halfway into the book and nothing has happened.

I will never forgive the North American publisher for this cover, because the original is so good.

Really enjoying this: it's adding much-needed depth to my relationship with certain cards! I do think the negatives associated with the Majors so far has been a bit repetitive, and there's A LOT of citing/analyzing scholars without Burgess always offering much to the conversation.

Grace is the WORST unlikeable character I think I've ever encountered. Why? Because he's meant to be likeable and Weir fails at every turn.

Trying this one again because I'm going with my book club to see the movie, and I can't be the only one who hasn't read it 🥸
