Yes, I'm reading this for the tenth time and yes, I will be taking it to silent book club this weekend so I can convert everyone to join me in my obsession.

You mean I'm reading two books with demisexual men at the forefront? Loving the representation.

This started off slow and was hard to keep up with thanks to all the characters and government factions, but damn I love some good political machinations and true enemies-to-lovers vibes. "I hate your guts but also wanna flirt with you" at its finest.

Apparently I can suffer from FOMO, because here I am, reading the Canadian hockey yaoi.

Not the most gripping, but it's compulsively readable and does cool things with the idea of real-world horrors versus supernatural horrors.

God, I wish I had a physical copy on hand to quote from. The last chapter was where Purvis the author came through as opposed to her writing as the actual narrator, and it slapped.

I spoke too soon: now the number of typos and stray punctuation is egregious. Seriously, did anyone review this at page proof? My project-editor brain is SCREAMING.

For a trad-pub, this has an egregious number of errors in the first hundred pages alone. Who copyedited this??

At this point, I've switched entirely to the audiobook for the ease of listening, and that, combined with the shift from France to Scotland, has made for a more engaging story.

Ten years since I first read this, I've decided to watch the Starz adaptation all the way through after stopping with season 3. So far, my main thought is that the television series is much more compelling.
