I’m about six hours in and I can’t wait for this to end. I’m only finishing it because I’m somewhat invested in the story and would like to know who the killer is. But these narrators are absolutely awful.

I just need to note here that I LOATHE Abby, the protagonist’s daughter. She’s insufferable. And have thoroughly enjoyed everything else about this book—the plot, the other characters, the setting—and I want to read the rest of the Kate Wakefield series. But unless Abby changes A LOT or somehow leaves the series, it’ll be hard. lol

Struggling to continue. The teenager is a tiresome trope of the inevitable put upon, but with a heart of gold teenage girl. As if all teenage girls must inevitably go through this phase. Purple hair! Rude to everyone! Constantly saying what are you talking about? The protagonist is also annoying in a way I can’t quite put my finger on. And my God, it is slow moving. Really hope this picks up soon…

I have a theory about what the "surprise ending" might be, and if I'm right I'm afraid I'll hate the ending, too. Still hoping I'm wrong...
