McDougall's book is about so much more than relationships with animals and about running. Maybe I might have handled some of my human relationships a bit better had I read this book ages ago.

Illuminating narrative about the restaurant industry--especially about what occurs behind the scenes.

The section on a chef who committed suicide can be interpreted as foreshadowing Bourdain's own suicide as does his admission that his perspective on life is dark.

I won't finish this book. As a literary work, it is lacking.
