Breezily written but good food for thought.

It’s been more than 5 years since the last Flavia! So excited my hold arrived at the library.

“ She had converted from a Baptist to become a ‘piscy [*Episcopalian] when she had married because, well, now she could afford it.” 😂

The author is a gifted writer. It’s an interesting and layered story. I don’t enjoy the interjections of moral judgments (polyamory portrayed positively for example.) Also the main character has actions that aren’t truly cutting but could certainly be perceived as romanticizing cutting.

I’m quitting this one. It’s dark and has too much profanity for me. Not only am I quitting this book, I’m giving up on the series.

This narrator is DREADFUL—overly dramatic.

Fascinating subject. Unfortunately, the story telling isn’t equal to the story.

What an amazing insights! I am reading this one slowly and this will be one I re-read. I know that comparison is the thief of joy but the chapter on “keep your eyes on your own paper” really brought the point home. Everyone should read this book!

Francine Rivers is always a good read!

I am going to finish this book but how I wish I had known the book dealt with a person dying from cancer! I have lived through the stress of that and stay away from that topic in books. I read to escape and this hasn't been an escape.

Glad to be visiting with Mary Dell and Howard again!

The description says this book took 10 years to write. I believe it. Superb writing.
