member that high schooly mess i complained about in the first book? thus far, the entirety of this sequel has been mila whining about how she needs to come clean to hunter. *yawn*

It's still very high school-y, even to the point of over exaggeration. I find the personality of Riley's friend solo, irritating at best. there are times where I want to scream for Riley to stand up for themselves.

I was concerned considering this is a book written by - from all appearances, a cis-non queer man. I just picked this up from the library 2 hours ago - and I’m already on chapter 7.

So far all i have to say is that is ULTRA HIGH SCHOOLY and def has all the high school tropes.

Chapter Twenty-Six:

THINGS HAVE DEFINITELY PICKED UP. A bit predictable but it works.

Chapter 5:

Even if you are not Asian, you’ll relate to Dimple’s mother’s incessant preening for her start finding a husband.

I have the hardcover of this book and on the back cover, the femme model is throwing a drink into the face of the masc. Based on what i just read - he deserved every drop of that drink thrown in his face. EVEN if it’s his parents fault, he deserved it.

Chapter 19: (i think)

About halfway thru.

NOW THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. It’s chilled out on the Mean Girls and is giving me the Android spy on the run realness i have been waiting for.

Chapter 13: it’s picked up a bit.

Kaylee (one of the asshole friends) gets a smidge if the shit she deserves especially after spreading a nasty false rumor about Mila. I feel like the boy Mila kinda interested in is the the threat her mom is trying to protect her from.

At the point where i am in the book, it’s still more Mean Girls than it is iRobot, i hope the author evens it out a bit.

Chapter Seven: Its currently building up to be typical high school dramatics - over a boy no less. Mila's friends are the absolute worse.
