Chapter 18 - the end of book I; subject is how the wicked are employed as instruments of God while God remains free of any taint for their behavior.

On to 1981. Carter claims to be content, but there's a distinct undercurrent of bitterness about his loss to Reagan that seems undeniable.

The story so far: the Israelis are always intransigent and belligerent; Reagan was awful and probably a moron; Carter's policies were pretty darn good but misunderstood by the public.

moving through John 3.

Just passed some good teaching for deacons, of which I am one. Remembering for an upcoming meeting...

Interesting to note that the cleansing of the temple wasn't just about greed, but also had a lot to do with emphasizing that God has expectations about HOW he is to be worshipped.

Working through Romans 4. Much more detailed exposition than Sproul's 1-volume commentary, as should be expected, yet very accessible and insightful. Looking forward to continuing through this series.

Now moving through Paul's words on the fate of Israel and the remnant that God has reserved for Himself. Again - excellent, readable commentary.

Worked through a significant portion of the book dealing with predestination and justification. These central doctrines of authentic, Biblical Christianity - although difficult to accept - are explained and their firm scriptural roots are explored. Sproul is a fine teacher; I will be going over these chapters again from time to time to brush up on the details.

Just finished the chapter on the Golden Chain. Now - if God is for us, who can be against us?

Starting this one at lunch today - looking forward to it!

Interesting read. The sinking of the Fitzgerald, while tragic, is a fascinating story. Stonehouse tells it well, and at this point in the book starts looking into what may have caused the freighter to sink.

Fantastic exposition of one of the most important books in all of Scripture.
