Having reached the amazing exciting parts of the story I find that the whole sleep so you can go to work idea is very annoying. In general I like my job and believe that work is good for humans both because it brings purpose to life and it increases social interaction. However, having reached the last 25% of my book with its climactic end, I want to call in sick and read! I won't but I want to!

Favorite quote so far
"But Thirsk treasured that brief exchange, which seemed to promise a potentially sane ally. He hoped it did at any rate, because he suspected he was going to need one."

More highly detailed setup and ship and gun design and how to fight with them. A little daunting in the reading sometimes.

A thought after reading these pages is that I sort of understand why some people have issues with this book. Much of the section I just read had a ton of setup and world building for the story which, though necessary, isn't as much fun to read.

Moving along slowly is still moving. I now have the first 8 books in this series in mass market paperback (my favorite reading format) used of course because I can't afford new. Stacked on top of each other it is very obvious that this will take a while!!!

This remains an enjoyable read even on a week that has been beyond annoying and hectic. I was worried my brain wouldn't be able to tackle it but it is very relaxing between first and second sleep and the only issue is that I want to keep reading when I should be going back to bed.

This section contains one of my favorite scenes where the king is talking to his cousin's wife and children. I won't say more because of spoilers but I wish I believed in the goodness of political people and the ability to be this kind.
I've found that shorts seems to have taught my brain to only read for a couple of minutes so I'm setting a timer for 15 min and forcing myself to read until the timer sounds

I've a goal to read all of the Safehold series as the original series has been done since 2019 and I've only ever finished book one. I'm starting with book one again as I finished this book quite a while ago and I'm not sure I remember what happened. It is going fairly quickly right now as I really like the beginning of the story but I know it gets harder to track as the number of characters expands very quickly..

Small spoiler warning......

This is a plus catalog book on Audible so I decided to go ahead and try it. I enjoyed the 1st season of the tv show and so far am very much enjoying this book. Could do without the stalking of her significant other's killer bit but sometimes you just have to put up with the stupid parts of a book.

This is a reread of a once favorite book. I first read it in 2009 and then again in 2010. I'm curious to see if I will enjoy it as much as I used to. So far it is going ok but I'm obviously not very far into it.

Elisa is finished with Snow White and Rose Red
The older English in this book tends to make it a bit of a slower paced read for me and tends it more towards a slog instead of sprint.

I'm back to reading Purgatory's Shore. It's a good book but sometimes takes me a while to settle in.

Favorite quote from this part of the book. "Seregil rubbed absently at the hidden scar and reflected that, on the whole, his life seemed to be in greater disarray than usual."
