Character driven, reasonably supported by the story and only minimally scientifically oriented. Characters and story are strong enough though to keep me engaged. While near ½ completed, I still don't have a clue as to the "tragedy" that befell the crew (staying purposely vague here), but Mary's eloquent writing style, makes my "hanging" quite delicious. Thoroughly enjoying this one. Stay Tuned...

Loved this work: fascinating, creative, thought provoking to the point of being a bit implausible (of course, what on an alien might be "implausible?"). Story flows, highly fleshed out worlds and characters...definitely worth the read. Looking forward to the next!!

I mentioned in my review of the previous installation of this series, how it's not the warring that is ever attractive to me, but the reference and descriptions of the hard science. Less warring in this volume and a bit less hard science, so I am still attracted and love the work. For you warmongers, you'll love this one too!! (Respect!)

I don't mind a bit on military Sci-fi but I'm generally not drawn to it. Evan is such a compelling writer for me, that I jumped into the 1st 3 books lustfully. This 4th, stays for the most part on Earth during the Alien invasion and I'm not really interested in the gory details as much as the Space Operations and hard science. There is still plenty enough to keep in in this fabulous work though!

Frank Argentine is still just this "guy" whose preconceptions of "leadership" have SO much to be desired. He's still struggling with them as the crew remains his best coach. He still doesn't have a clue how this thing's going to end and...neither do I!

Fabulous like the rest. Little more emphasis on the "business" of making "credits" and the forming a "companies" than I cared for. To that end, a bit more tedious than any of the others, but not a deal breaker...
