only a few pages in and my question is: why does our main character stay? why does anyone who is left, remain at all? if the exodus created a sense of jovial transition- why not be apart of it ? especially if the conditions you remain in, arent good. I noted how our main character asks inwardly “i wonder if they had left us, or if we had left them (by remaining/not moving on).”

very much enjoying the beginning stages of the depth of alans story being laid out. im enjoying the perspective of a younger and promising detective, as opposed to a seasoned on. it fits well with the steadily suggesting pacing of the plot development. this further invites me to empathize with the main characters journey of grief. a seasoned and complex mind would unpack the oddities that lay before us differently

pace is picking up !

this is a very intriguing read so far. i really enjoy the shift of character perspectives throughout the journey of the exposition . i do enjoy that the framework for the story that is about to unfold has its own sense of flesh and weight and doesn’t feel like a plot dump, its carefully intentional in its pacing. very exited to see what happens next ?!

fayre has arrived to the torn remain of tamlins spring court manor— as she treks through the ruins non other than alis discovers her. at this juncture there seems to be a bit of a lore dump in connecting the inkling of background info given to us by the suriel—to opening up the building of the fae sociopolitical conflict

i think the time spent back at home allowed fay more clarity/closure than she could have ever truly found had she insisted on staying in pythian. fay experienced emotional connection with nesta and the sight of how comfy elian and her father are faring. this—along with nesta’s insistence that the family is “well without fayre”—culminate to the severance or completion of their mothers dying request <3

tension is picking up deliciously ! i shed a small tear when our lovers had to part —however, excitedly anticipate the upcoming exposition into a dazzling conflict!

so far the book is super enjoyable ! fayre herself is a curious character—a bit dumb but so was i when i was 19 and had far too much responsibility on my shoulders. at this juncture i am approaching how she begins to unravel her vulnerability and allowing tamlin and the faeries around her into that sensitive part of her !
