trying to plug along just to get it out of the way. it’s fine.

i’m super early in but this book has done a great job of hooking me early!!! not too much exposition or worldbuilding and very character forward. i’m excited.

DNF’ing

This needs a female narrator - I’m not a fan of West’s performance (even when I can understand him).

Blake manages a fleshed out, full cast of characters with a punchy, memorable narrative voice. She brings something really fantastical to magical realism. I could see fans of Stephanie Garber or Erin Morgenstern who want something more “mature” enjoying this.

Unfortunately the foul language is too much.
