Verbose and nothing much happening. Family life as seen through the eyes of Dave Win, part Burmese by his father not in the picture and his British mother who embarks on a lesbian relationship. Character development lacking and to be honest I doubt I’ll finish as I’m bored.

Long drawn out and annoying with so many missed conclusions. Sensible people doing dumb things. So many holes.

What’s happening I think is she’s writing net novel on the train with her carriage characters but nothing is actually happening! It’s in her head.

This gets more ridiculous every minute. Vivian maybe should have brought insulin with her so she would be behaving like a detached woman . Guilty of her own mid actions. Can u even finish this book it’s pretty stupid!

‘Most men hate or revere women’. Good grief what a jaded thought. What a bunch of self centered ingrates all together in one carriage. It’s probably rules that Dorcas didn’t tell anyone the phone was broken or it would cause panic which it has! Written from perspective of a twenties or possibly thirties something with little world experience.

Book is better than I thought at first. Entertaining but for a younger audience. A different Agatha who dun it.

First observation. Who calls their baby Cyanne? Second observation. Tell Finch to shut up! Isn’t your first class carriage ‘no cell phones’. He’s obnoxious.

So far nothing is the least bit funny nor entertaining. Speculation over a car crash and a possible skin cancer aren’t in the least amusing. I’ve given up already. It’s a dNF

I can’t read any more. First person then third it’s all over the place and turning into a harlequin romance. Not my genre at all. DNF

Too many one dimensional characters in the first chapter to remember and the writing is over wrought. Now that I’ve read four chapters the storyline is a bit clearer but I’m still not engaged. Writing style puts me off.

Not getting on very well. Storyline not evolving.

Despite having worked in public libraries albeit in the business and science area so not fiction I found this novel hard to get into. I’m already forcing myself to read which isn’t a good sign. Characters flat and unnecessary detail. Aleisha and with her inability to recommend books one wonders why she works in a library. Could be a dNF. Already bored. I’ve read all the books on the list.

Easy read once again. But I’m perplexed that Kate would be charged with murder on flimsy or little evidence? Is that the way the Canadian justice system works? I know the author is a retired judge but I’m not convinced.

Well his first book was recommended to me by a Bookclub friend. I haven’t read yet. This follow up so far is rather boring and discombobulated. All over the place. Unusual and different setting and concept but so far the style isn’t working for me.

I’m surprised publishers still publish cheap thrillers like this. So many flaws. 5$million pay out would last what five months with their lifestyle. Sell the huge house, overpriced car, wine collection! So frustrating when authors think heinous people make for great reading. Such a dud.

Shallow unlikeable main characters. They had a lavish lifestyle and now are trying to defraud an insurance company? Who pays for that? All the genuine insurance clients. Morally repugnant.

Well written story in parts about a manipulating young man who wants to be a writer. He manipulates by becoming close to established authors who are homosexual.

So far all speculation posing as fact. I am both left and right brained- I have a scientific degree and a fine art degree. I like scientific fact not airy fairy theories. Also very hard to read. Either the translation is bad or the editing or both.

The author is all over the place in his thoughts and needs to organize them much better. His writing consists of little thoughts and anecdotes, barely scientific in nature.

On the verge of giving up. Skipping huge chunks of words to get to the story. So verbose.. so descriptive adding nothing to the story. Cannot engage with any character.

So wordy. A back story on a back story is annoying. Reader forgotten what the possible point could be! Don’t like the flipping between time periods.

Already feeling this is a little bread. Overly descriptive. Verbose.

So far I’ve not a great desire to keep going. Nothing happening and little to like about parents Robin and especially Mercy.

I’ve read this book before but author chooses objects and tells stories from her own personal point of view rather than a nation’s. Also very little if anything about indigenous objects which in the age of reconciliation is retrograde. Interesting enough but not fulfilling. A little dry.

Another vapid NY Tines best seller.

Do authors get paid by the word these days?. Lacklustre and nothing happening. Verging on boring.

Not sure why I’m still reading. I’m bored. The non story just goes on and on and on!

This book is beginning to drag on and on and on. It started well and as a research chemist myself a decade later (1960s) I felt empathetic although females studying science subjects were accepted at universities in the 60s and 50s too and before in the UK. The best character is the dog six thirty. It isn’t laugh out loud as others have reviewed. I wonder if I’ll finish. Elizabeth is boring.

After a good start I am gradually disinterested in the evolving story. More of the same in the relationship between Elizabeth and her babysitter , artist, Sam.

I like th writing style and am. It bothered about the lack of quotation marks. However the subject matter is quite dull. D boring. The author is obsessed with Ireland of years ago with digs here and there about the. Catholic church, attitude towards ‘fallen’ women, Magdalene laundries, Sinn Fein etc. it’s a weird book. I want to finish but am equally bored.
