Again - WHY is this such a weirdly sexual book?!?

Holy shit - how did the play come from this? It’s weirdly sexual, and not even kind of interesting. Does this get better?!

A wonderful audiobook narrator writes a book? yes please!

I’m maybe 15% in to this audiobook. WHO LET THE AUTHOR NARRATE THIS? As soon as it said “performed by the author” I was like “ohhhhh fuck - this isn’t gonna be good!” And guess what: it isn’t.

This is gonna have to get spaced out with other more tolerable things to finish it.

47% in, and the pace is really dragging. This seems like too much setup and not enough action so far.

This dude seriously just referred to the delusional founder of the Mormon religion as a transformative leader. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

I was enjoying this, but her talking about how not wearing gloves in food prep is a health code violation is absolutely false. Washed clean hands are better than gloves every time.

Listening to her “poo poo” his religious ideas when hers are the same lead me to wonder how she didn’t realize she was brainwashed before she was ever taken.

When she talks about thinking her family/religion would abandon her because she was a broken vase - holy fuck. This right here is everything wrong with religion and these families.

I feel so awful for the kids being raised in those religions. It’s absolutely awful.

My god, this book is so hard to get through.

The narration on this is... obnoxious. I cannot get though this fast enough.

Holy crap - so far, this book is so well written and extremely stressful in a very real way. These characters feel like they could leap off the page and materialize. It's been so long since I've read a book that was this well done. High hopes for the rest of it!

Is this, perhaps, the worst and most illogical book I have ever read? It's turned into a rage read. WTF was the publisher thinking? Was this written by a 14 year old teenage boy?!?! This is *NOT* how the world works.

I'm early in, but this author's descriptions are AMAZING. So perfect - you know exactly what she's talking about and can picture it exactly.
