Ah! Chapter I was waitin for! This paragraph said that Ashbery evokes monumentalism but undercuts it out of a kind of shame that he has succumbed to a secret desire for the monumental or non-democratic in the first place... so when Ashbery quickly darts away from something it doesn’t always show that he’s running from something he dislikes — he could Be running from a scene he’s ashamed to be attracted to!

You can have your opinion you’re entitled to it but I’m the boss here so... you ask those guys in four months when they’re facing unemployment... as if it’d be better any place else... [dont you all know I have the capacity to eavesdrop?? Windows are so thin! Every sound gets through!]

Already struggling... but definitely also getting what I knew I was in for... overload of sick shock stuff... still I think it will be readable for at least a dozen pages more... seems to be issuing from authentic anger and crisis... also it is a kind of “classic” so it is mildly like homework...
