The struggle to not DNF is real. I want to support this author. I don't think it's a bad book or poorly written. But, it's all the things I don't like in "literary" books. Constant dialogue, constant descriptions. Ugh!

I am struggling. The premise is so interesting and I was prepared for the length. I wasn't prepared for how disconnected I am. Ian Smith describes everything. Everything. Worse, I still am not buying why Spencer who has so much to lose is so invested in a mystery that has nothing to do with him. He's not a journalism major who wants an expose'. The mystery had no relevance to his life. Make it make sense, please.

Follows the investigation and background story of the lead detective and the connection she shares with an associate of one of the victims.
