This book will stay with me for years.

I finished "The Jewels of Aptor" today and I thought it was wonderful. It was published in 1962 but it feels as if it could be written today and still feel modern.

So far I've loved "The Jewels of Aptor." I've decided to start reading Delany's work from the beginning and, having been a fan of Babel-17 before this, I am really enjoying it. I'm excited to finish this one and get into the next two novels.

I've been listening to the audiobook (read by the author) and it's a wonderful, entertaining read so far. I think Brownstein does a good job of painting the fast, DIY, anxious music scene while grounding us in her and Sleater-Kinney as characters in both past and present forms. There are also some wild namedrops (a mixtape made by one Elliott Smith!) that keep me waiting for more. Highly recommend!

So far I have been enjoying this series. It's a very entertaining read and keeps your attention through slower travel scenes and fast-paced battle scenes alike. I was a bit underwhelmed by the ending of the last book, but not disappointed. I'm excited to see where it goes.

I am rereading this book because it was a favorite of mine back in high school. So far, I still think I enjoy it as much as I did and I think I "get it" a bit more.
