Got this book unseen in our library's "blind date with a book" promotion. Literally checked it out wrapped in paper with no idea what it was other than "suspense novel." Here's hoping it's good :-)

So far good. "This way of reading scripture, therefore, affirms that the Bible *contains* the word of God without claiming it *is* the word of God" (p. 7). And quoting D. Elton Trueblood "The great middle ground is that which maintains both the objectivity of truth and [the human] incapacity, either individually or collectively, to attain it."

Fascinating take on the foundation of the US as a secularist/Christian nation.

Very interesting, if a smidge dense at times. Gonna take some time to finish this one, but feels like it will be well worthwhile
