I have currently read 1666 according to Goodreads. Somebody who shall remain unnamed is pleased by this...

I can already tell that this book will be quite the escapist delight for me. I have already swooned several times from the scant few pieces I have read, and the introduction was both wonderfully informative and evocative. As I read, I cannot help but feel the cliched sentiment that I was just born in the wrong era...

Just finished the captivating but mystifying 'Rosamund's Bower'. It seems like I'm one of the very few people who actually found it to be a stunning story. I shall be pondering this one for awhile...

I'm completely blown away by this thus far. Oh, the remarkable power of Mr. Isis' mellifluous language! He is definitely rewiring some of my synapses!

I put this aside for a little while, but now I've re-immersed myself in it with a vengeance. I'd love to have a cozy fireside chat with Mr. Weighell. I get the impression that he would have an abundance of fascinating tales to tell, of which only a fraction have made their way into his fiction. What an intriguing individual! His occult erudition just blazes through the spaces left between his expertly crafted words!

So far, this anthology has been a bit hit and miss, until I read Caitlín R. Kiernan's "The Prayer of Ninety Cats", that is. My God, was this story ever fantastic, one of the highlights of anything I've read this year, to be sure. It's available to be read online here:

This woman can WRITE!

What dreamy wondrousness! I'm just losing myself in the beauty of Krúdy's literary landscape. And John Lukacs' introduction was so evocatively written, my eyes misted over several times upon reading it. I can tell this will be a book to savour!

Almost all my books are packed, and it looks like they will be for about a month yet. How forlorn I feel to not be able to have them surrounding me! I can't wait for my new shelves to be built. It looks like I'll have to be very good friends with my Kindle for awhile...

When all else in life lets me down, at least I still have my books, the sweetest balm of my tawdry existence.

So many delicious books, such little precious time. All I want to do is read and read and read and read and read... Alas, silly life gets too often in the way. Bah!

These stories continue to be glorious and heartbreaking, so much beauty, light, darkness and pain woven with these words. We've followed the Norse gods to the new world now, and they continue to wreak their havoc and offer the (un)lucky chosen few unearthly delights.

This is just a glorious read so far, scintillatingly beautiful and heartbreakingly poignant. Ms. Hannett and Ms. Slatter are a writing team to be reckoned with. The old Norse myths become even more vital and alive under their joint authorship. I'm simply swooning.

Today was an exquisite mail day. I wish I could receive so many literary wonders in the mail every day! Now, I just need to find the time to devour them all...

I really wish I had more time to read! I'm going through withdrawal from lack of reading time lately. :(

I finished the first of these stories today, "Daughter of Bótù", while on my lunch break. It left me breathless with heartache, it's beauty and sadness unleashing deeply buried poignant desires within me. I have high hopes of this collection based on this first exquisite gem of a story.
