This was a slow-moving big old project of a book that I didn’t expect to like, but I can’t stop thinking about it. Save the trees!

Above average thriller!

I’m a sucker for Steven Rowley and though I have no idea how old he is, I find myself feeling quite maternal towards him.

Tedious

I liked this book quite well, but the interpersonal angst got to be a bit tedious. 3.5 stars

I would have given this a higher rating except the big coincidence was just a little too big for me to swallow.

Kate Quinn writes fantastic historical thrillers ad this is definitely one of them. So interesting. So suspenseful. So informative. Unputdownable.

3.5 stars. More enjoyable than the last 5 or 10 books. I laughed out loud a few times.

This book takes the wisecracking gumshoe trope to the extreme, almost to the detriment of the story. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a great lover of wisecracking detective, but this one—over the top.

You know all the several dozen nutrition books you’ve read over the course of your lifetime? This book is just like them. Cut down on sugar and most carbs. Exercise. Eat protein and veggies. Get enough sleep. Now you don’t have to read the book.
