Started hating the main character at about here. :(

DNF before I had to return the book.

More than a few times I’ve been confused on who’s point of view I’m in, especially when the chapter starts off with one character’s actions but we’re in another character’s point of view.

Amuck amuck amuck!

I could see having a rational conversation about your place in that town after that happened—in that it’s a microcosm of a larger issue—but it seems like she’s giving him way too much power over her, and the emotional response seems extreme, especially over someone who is clearly an a-hole.

I guess I’ll find out if there’s more to it or not. Reading on!

I hope I’m supposed to find both of the main characters tedious. They decided long ago to not truly be friends.

I’m reading an actual physical copy of this novel but there’s no map or table of contents. *grumpy face*

Is the casual racism a constant throughout the book or just in the first part?

I have to agree with Ella; the Quasing seem pretty useless.

I’m DYING of laughter—joyful and painful—during this hilarious dialogue during lunch with Tamara and Adam.

I just laughed harder than I’ve laughed in over a year. My chest physically aches. (Complete disclosure: that could be due to the COVID vaccine....)

The book grabbed me here. I think the story does better when Murderbot has friends.

I heard a lot of, “It’s similar to Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman,” but really it’s just a less vulgar Family Guy.

I don’t agree with her take on transphobia in women’s spaces. “Both sides need to sit down with each other and listen,” isn’t a hot take in 2020.

And her lack of understanding of FTM gender affirming surgeries is appalling for a book with this subtitle.

So far I don’t get the sense this book was written for me—an actual trans person.

I’m getting a bit annoyed at the MacGuffin of the malfunctioning imago, but I’m enjoying myself otherwise and anticipating a payoff for my patience.
