De Nederlandse vertaler koos als titel “Waarom de buren nooit deugen”, zeer aansprekende titel natuurlijk. Het boek, en mijn editie, komen uit 1960. De introductie toont al aan hoe hilarisch het gedateerd is inmiddels, toch leest het prima weg en de basis van de menselijke aard blijft (helaas?) ook onveranderlijk. Ik zie dat het boek vaak herdrukt is, vast met kleine updates hier en daar. Ik lees met plezier door
