I’m not crying. You’re crying! I’m not sure why, but I find this to be one of the most beautiful and moving lines I’ve read in a fantasy novel. It reminds me of Mushishi.

My how things have changed from the initial story. Still very good. I'm liking how it's progressing and I love the characterization of Kale. That almost-eunuch scene though...ughhhhhhhh.

I am LOVING this book. The slow world-building and character development feels so natural. However, in chapter 11 a character named Utani suddenly was named Utabi for several pages. By the next chapter he was back to being Utani. This sort of pulled me out of the book for a few seconds but no matter!

Three protagonists, ZERO lines of dialogue from all of them. We have a silent man, a baby, and a goat. The goat does goaty things including eating gloves and acting stubborn. The baby gets perverse pleasure out of randomly pooping, pinching nostrils, and mimicking eyebrow movements. The man? He's...doing something. Not sure what, yet. Still, this book is enthralling so far!

Wait...this book is actually less than 200 pages? Wow, how the times have changed in terms of fantasy book length.

r/Fantasy Bingo 2017, Subgenre: Dystopian/Post-apocalyptic/ Apocalyptic/ Dying Earth. What a beautifully written book. I'm thoroughly enjoying this one.

r/fantasy Bingo 2017: Graphic Novel. Found this at my local library. Had no expectations, but was surprised by TV-head alien sexy times in the first few pages!

The ignorance of US diplomacy in SE Asia during the 50s is mind boggling. Even crazier: some of these critiques may still be valid. Sigh.

So far this is an EASY 5 star book. It's sooo good and obviously well researched. The Golem is so adorable and I love the Jinni. The side characters have a lot of depth to them too.

I've probably read every Cosmere book by Brandon Sanderson at least three four times.

Got this book for free from the author. A pretty good price. So far, it's a 3 or 3.5. What do I not like about it? The blatant info dumps. Literally the book cuts away from the story to go on for pages about geography, the history of men, and information about the magic. There wasn't an organic way within the story to relay this info? Is it even needed? I'd say the story is just fine without the info.

This is a very interesting book. Being on WiFi for my Kindle to access Wikipedia helps, since there is so much mythology involved! Just discovered that a character is Samson, and now all I hear in my head is Regina Spektor's song "Samson".

Can they be pirates, just for one day? Then Hadrian could increase his sailing vocabulary from "Aye" and "sir" to include "Rrrrrrr, matey!".

Oh, hey there Royce and Hadrian! Oh, and you too Arista. Hi. Can we just get more of R&H's bromance, and less of Arista until she gets fully fleshed out with more agency? Or is this her book to shine?

Book One has been completed. What a fun read so far. Up to this point it's a 4 star book. So far things have been relatively easy to predict and it feels more like a sword and sorcery type of entertainment. Hopefully it gets a little bit more complex! Nonetheless, I'm still enjoying it!

I wish my metro rides were longer than 10 minutes each direction. I need more time in the day to read!

Reading while on the train for only 6 minutes doesn't get me far...and reading while walking the dog in the better cold isn't as easy as it was when it was summer.
