I’m enjoying the book just fine, but they make this woman, but the hero complex is getting old…

And gah! I hate books with kids. I fear I may have picked up my next DNF. Sad.

Okay maybe there isn’t a producer, but still weird to chat it up with a child on a romance advice line.

For the record, it’s still incredibly weird that the producer let a child talk to the host.

It’s these books that make me think I don’t like this genre. The romance kicked in at around 58% and the plot and any semblance of conflict, seems to have dissipated. Sigh.

I also realized what I’m not sure about with this authors writing — it’s adult themes written in YA style. The simplicity is sort of uncomfortable and the main characters don’t have personalities.

I wasn’t sure about this book, but our FMC believing the MMC is cheating on her, even for a minute, especially with Evelyn…is hard to believe based on what we’ve been led to believe about these characters.

I’ve always loved our FMC and I’m learning now that never needed her and the MMC to get together. Yuck. YA romance is the ick.

Oh yay. We were about to find out why the MMC is being weird to the FMC when she suddenly decides she doesn’t want to know…for absolutely no reason….

Maybe I should stop going into books blind because I’m somehow reading another baby book.

Thinking the guy you think is partially responsible for your sister’s death is hot is odd…but I’m still locked in *shrug*

It’s been so long since I added this to my TBR that I forgot the premise. I like going in blind though I remembered some folks really hating it. And OMG already.

I somehow know I’m going to DNF this, but let’s see…

She keeps talking about how bad her previous life was but why was it bad? What happened? Sigh.

Absolutely nothing has happened yet. We’ve barely even gotten any world building. What is the magic? How does it work? The house is the most exciting character. I’ll give it a little longer, but it’s dragging.

Takeshi’s love must be unconditional because this woman went from imperfect and realistic to repetitive, dense, and annoying. He is clearly in love with her, it’s not even being written as if it’s unclear. She’s just dumb now.

Oh and are we heading toward an android-human relationship?

The MMC teaching the FMC to fight seems to be a part of the romantasy blueprint, but I don’t get why the FMC even felt comfortable asking this MMC for help. I get why he did it, but not why she - a prisoner - asked her prison guard to help her.

The male narrator’s male voices is about to make me DNF. Heaviest sigh.

This MMC is so unlikeable. “Boner-inducing face” — ugh.

If she did not hit this man, why won’t she just tell him…

I DNF books in this genre at a higher rate than any other, but it seems that’s because I’d never read Kennedy Ryan. She writes like a grown up. There have been multiple places so far where other stories would have started the dreaded miscommunication trope, but not Kennedy. She’s giving these characters real life stakes and issues while still having fun. I’m obsessed.

It’s taking everything in me not to DNF. Full conversations are being repeated, it’s so boring. Worst of the series.
