Do you ever read a whole book and at the end feel like you missed something? Perhaps one small sentence or paragraph when your attention wandered for a brief moment that might have changed everything? This book was that for me.

Quite possibly, one of the best books I have ever read. The pure humanity and care Marra pours into every character is profoundly powerful. Each person in the story is a person, thoughtfully fleshed out with the power to inspire and to wrench you heart. The book reminded my at times of The Orphan Master's Son, Schindler's List, and All the Light We Cannot See. Do yourself a favor, read this book.

So many Sci-Fi are structured around conflict - cultural, scientific, social, technological, but this wonderful little story has a much more optimistic feel. A special shout out to my friend Niek, who is Dutch like the protaginist.
