Anyone have ideas on why I'm not able to post a review? I have been trying for a couple of days and it won't post.

(Mrs. Jeffries and the Missing Alibi, if it matters).

Does anyone know why GR keeps logging me out?

I never had this problem before but now, even after I have just logged in (again) and wish to go to a different page, GR says I need to log in (again).

Is this a problem with the site, my settings my internet, gremlins...something else???

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey GR I know Harry Potter is all popular and everything but really, is there a way for me to turn off getting quotes from a TERF coming up on my pages? Surely there is a better way of saying that a page is down.

Update on Chapter-Indigo's policy discriminating against disable people. They say this discrimination is apparently 'OK because the government is allowing it' (UGH!)

A quick heads-up for my fellow Canadian booklovers. Today I learned that Chapters-Indigo, at least in the Lower Mainland BC, has adopted a disgusting policy that discriminates against disabled people.

I have a condition that prevents me from wearing a face mask. So, I am not allowed in any of their stores even though our Prov. Health Officer has made an exemption for people like me. UGH!!!

"F***ing pussies" (to insult a group of men)

-seriously?!? Do people still stay that?!?

The book was published 2016 not 198-something.

p.s. it is highly unlikely a raccoon would forage in a blizzard.

Off to a very bad start with this book UGH!

And there it is - male author, female protagonist, obligatory comment by protagonist about her own breasts.

Seriously?!? Why do these men do that?!? Is it taught in their writing classes?!?

Susan is starting The 8th Confession (A Women's Murder Club Thriller, 8)
You know it is a safe bet that is is a male author when the female protagonist/narrator tells you her breast size when she introduces herself to the reader. <>

A wish for a peaceful day to everyone on this National* Day of Remembrance and Action Against Violence Against Women.

In memoriam to the 14 women massacred on this day 29 yrs ago in an act of gender-based violence at the Ecole Polytechnique.

*in Canada, but the wish goes to everyone everywhere.

Am I the only one getting a sudden increase in friend requests from people with: i) virtually no activity, ii) no books, iii) only very recent friends, iv) profiles in Cyrillic?

I'm Canadian - it's there on my profile. We have no elections coming up. What's the deal?

Am I the only one who has noticed the bias in the book descriptions on GR? I have seen it a number of times - male is actor, female is incidental in the plots - especially vs. my local library which is more balanced.

My library will describe a mixed-gender couple or female actor (sometimes title character). BUT GR does 'the males do this and, oh yeah female is there too' (even if SHE is the title person).

hmmm...

Please, could someone tell me how to add a jpeg to a challenge update? I have two books that fit challenges but the copies I read are not in GR files. I am, however, able to take a screen shot of the ebook cover. Unfortunately, I do not know how to add it to the challenge update.

Thank you!

I think there is something amiss with the GR Recommendations algorithm. Recently I got:

Because you enjoyed The Silver Chain: [you might like] The Little House.

The former is essentially smut with BDSM included. The latter a children's book about the story of a suburban house.

How does that calculate?!?

Hello GR, You closed the comments for your new page article. If you had allowed any, I would have said, 'Please give us back the daily quote!'

So many times I have to ask "who programs the recommendations code on the home page?"

I just posted a review of Orchid Blues, a fairly gritty mystery/thriller about a white supremacist group. And the recommendations I get in my feed as a result? A plethora of children's story books!

Seriously? Who programs the code that makes the recommendations on the homepage?

Today's quote: "my life is like tofu - it's what gets added that makes it interesting." I would agree but also add "and what I add to it..."

Today's quote "you are what you eat eats" (Michael Pollan) made me chuckle.

I am a vegetarian so if I am what I eat eats then I must be sunshine :D. I like the idea of being sunshine.

"now all she had to figure out was a way to tell...without revealing..." (pg. 168) Why? There is no reason whatsoever to not just tell the truth. It is disturbing how often Tricia feels the need to lie for the sake of lying.

Why would she lie about being on a date when it was perfectly legitimate to say 'I heard about the fire and was curious'? Lying for the sake of lying is never a good sign.

huh - real mink fur is something to envy? YUCK! I dislike also that Tricia is playing with the two men. Plus, she and her sister just did a B&E out of boredom...

OK, now it is a cheesy harlequin romance novel. Seriously, if I ever wanted a harlequin romance, I would first wonder about my sanity, then I would have signed that genre out at the library.

When did mystery books stop being mystery books? This one is a study of motherhood. Perhaps interesting topic, but one that belongs to a different genre all together.

Tricia is seriously judging Joelle's appearance at a time when Joelle is not only grieving her suddenly dead sister, and, worse, coming to Tricia for support?!? And they are supposed to be friends?

OK, OK, I get it. North Texas does not have the same forests as North Michigan does. You don't like the forest. You can stop hitting me on the head with that hammer now. (and really, how could anyone be surprised by that?)
