Now I'm on pins and needles. Not sure I really care too much for the heroine in this story, Natalia, but I do really like Hunter, and the overall story.

Oh my... this just took a Hate Notes turn. I can't stop listening even though it keeps making me mad, and now my heart just broke.

Also... way to go putting an Indian guy in the story as the step-daughter's crush and giving him a name that literally sounds like "Yak Shit." 😠

Ok sorry but I have a rant. This grown woman who, by the way, is supposedly a professional therapist, says a particular man gives her the creeps and she doesn't like being alone with him, and then says she prefers to wait until her 15 year old step-daughter is home to let the guy in (he owns the building they live in)... wtaf? I've pretty much lost all respect for this character at this point. Not a good sign.

So far, so good. Interesting backstory so far for the heroine, and super sexy, flirtatious Hero.

So far interesting and keeping me invested.

Well, I'll be honest. I'd DNF this thing right here if I weren't reading it for my local book club. I already didn't read last month's book, so 2 in a row would be bad.

I'm not sure what trajectory this story is supposed to be aiming for. Everyone is toxic. Well-meaning but toxic. Not even ships passing in the night. They're all running circles looking for each other but never crossing paths. Why?????

Getting better. I still don't understand what keeps this girl connected to a guy who gives her nothing. I get why he stays away from her, to protect her from himself. I don't get why she stays hung up on him. Yet.

I'm not saying this book isn't interesting. It has just the slightest "Vicious by V.E. Schwab" vibe. But for the love of grace, why does this girl keep holding out for this guy. YEARS are going by and he's avoiding her at all costs. It's annoying. I like the cop's chapters, though. (Audiobook is probably helping.)

It’s so fun, magical, poetic. These characters, Jest keeps surprising me. He’s just full of surprises. He’s so proper and dutiful, but so fun, witty, entertaining. Catherine is so polite and proper, and yet so kind and down to earth.

This book is enthralling. A familiar world, laugh out loud dialogue, and the giddy hope and nervous fear of budding, forbidden romance. Very whimsical and highly entertaining so far.
