Praise the lord, we’ve now progressed to seeing George and Lizzie’s first date. George is too good for Lizzie and the letter she wrote to herself was so awkward I almost closed the book and walked away.

Lizzie got sleeping pills because she can’t stop pining for Jack. Blah blah blah

As per the deal I made with myself to finish this by the time book club is held, I read 10 pages and I hated every single one. Lizzie continues to learn nothing, blame everyone except herself for her own self hatred and be a bad friend to Marla.

I’ve made a deal with myself to read 8 pages a day in time to finish this godforsaken book for book club and every single one of those 8 pages felt like purgatory. Lizzie is the most boring, self absorbed character I’ve read. And the “voices” she hears critiquing her as though her life is a game of football is the worst example of introspection I’ve ever read.

Slow start, with Horowitz waxing lyrical about his many and varied accomplishments. The problem with a literal self insert character is that there’s nothing stopping Horowitz from piling on the ego trip. We know it’s about him, and he steams ahead with the trip. By the time we get to the murder I was ready to use that cheap Macbeth dagger to take the author out myself

Don’t like it at all. Lizzie is an annoying main character, the timeline skips back and forth without warning, I just don’t get the appeal. If I wasn’t reading this for book club I’d have given up 30 pages in

This is giving "murder on the orient express", everyone did it vibes.

In all seriousness this is compulsively readable.
