I don't think I have ever characters more gullible and trusting. For 200 pages I have basically been yelling "is this a piece of your brain".

Enjoying the concept overall, just wish we were sticking with Temi rather than bouncing around 6+ viewpoints from anyone else. Multi POV is not my friend.

Never read a book in letter format before, that I can remember and I'm having delightful time so far! Particularly Sebastian's gushing and overly familiar letters and Tirzah's melodramatic approach (though that might wear thin if it is ever present).

Halfway through, very much standard Susie Tate stories. Story 3 and 4 to go

Right, I usually fail horribly with finishing non fiction (and collections/short stories) so let's see how I go...
Thoroughly interesting so far, as expected, but can I stick it out?

Well the sample hooked me like an eager fish, and I got it as part of a bookish Christmas Eve so it'd be rude not to...

Note: Reading someone else's copy for bookclub. Not a book I'd buy given it's inspired by the sixties scoop & residential schools.

So far, there are odd snippets of intriguing (I want to know more about the wyverns), but:

- the fatphobia is STRONG
- No idea what decade, country or government we're in.
- The first 50 pages could have been 10 with less needless repetition and still had more impact and personality.

Hatset giving us a peek of early Ghassan and the Nahid siblings.... oooh

Manizheh's story was emotional and I could feel the desperation.
Duriya's story was delightful and gave me major Nahri with Ali early on vibes.

Loving the various departments and fantastical touches. Amari is so cool, and where did these 97 pages go!
