Struggling with the writing style on this one. It's a bit of mess, with the author using flowery language to describe everything, yet also being fairly repetitive in her vocabulary. She needed a better editor...

Another Amazon First Reads title that I thought was going to be intriguing, but is falling a bit flat for me. I just can't understand the thinking/motivations behind the main character, Anna. She swings from suspicious of Gregg and his house to trusting him and falling for him, back and forth, in very short order. I'm hoping things coalesce a bit more in the second half...

Listening to this one for book club, and the narrator leaves much to be desired. Such a monotone approach to the whole thing. This one's going to be a struggle...

The author obviously didn't do his research regarding what volunteers at public libraries typically do. He has one of his primary characters lead a storytime, then shelve children's books, then escort an unhoused patron from the building at closing, then give said patron a ride to a shelter. The only realistic part of that was the shelving, maybe.

Also, the audiobook narrator doesn't correctly pronounce Marin.

Rereading this as a buddy read with my daughter. She's reading the illustrated edition. After we're done, we'll watch the movie together as a family.

Katherine Center sure has a knack for making her female protagonists particularly unlikeable at the beginning of a book. If I hadn't already read a few of her other books, I might be tempted to DNF this one, as Helen is almost unbearable. But, I am confident she will grow and develop into someone much more tolerable as the story progresses.

Not feeling this one right now. I checked out the audiobook and the narrator is not great. But I'm also struggling to keep track of storyline. I keep feeling like information is shared as a build-up tool something, and then nothing really big happens. Normally I love books about books, but this one is feeling a bit too convoluted for me at the moment.

Ugh. This book is in need of some serious editing, and I'm not talking about proofreading. It is SOOOO long and not much is happening. The two primary characters are annoyingly angsty and secondary characters are all two-dimensional. Ghost story is somewhat unique, but not very scary. Setting is cool, though.

I got a couple of chapters in to this one, and I think I'm going to have to try a different format. The premise is interesting, but all of the parenthetical statements in the text version are starting to bug me. I have a feeling audio might be a better way to experience this book.

Struggling through this one a bit. The storyline is interesting, but the characters themselves are not very sympathetic, and the constant changing POV just makes it harder to connect with them. I'm going to try and finish it, though!

Getting there, bit by bit. As a bilingual person, I often struggle with processing two languages at once. When I read in Spanish, I can't have English language stuff happening in the background (tv, music, other people's conversations). I'm less able to tune this stuff out than if I were reading in English - for which I'm quite adept at ignoring everything else in my vicinity. :)

Of course. The first time in a long time that I decide to read a Spanish book and I pick one that is almost 600 pages long. But, it's quite fast-paced and entertaining, and I'm finding it to be an easy read. I'm looking forward to continuing the trilogy.

Compelling storyline, but the writing leaves something to be desired. Feels like I'm reading a really long college application essay by a B-student. I'm going to stick with it, though, and see where it goes.

This one is really good! Loving the characters, the banter, the sexy times. All seems pretty authentic and believable. Reading an ARC, which means typos are a bit too frequent for my personal preference, but I'll survive.

Oh, and the author references the sexiness of male forearms - love, love, love!!!

Struggling through this one. The premise is good, and the writing is compelling, but I just can't connect with any of the characters. Not sure if this is due to the shifting perspectives with each chapter, or if it's just not the book for me right now. May come back to it later, if I find myself pondering how it ends...
