Just started! Fascinating premise.

If I had a nickel for every story I've read set in historical fantasy China that featured human-meat dumplings, I would have two nickels. Which is not a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

I really love Lin Chong. I too would want to abandon a heist that had been planned for months if it meant screwing over a badass military woman.

Huang's style excels at suspense building. Gotta take a moment to try and process the god's fang experiment.

Chapter 9 focused on Lu Junyi, not Lin Chong and the other Liangshan members. I'm excited to see how this narrative connects to the other one.

Cai Jing was Not this scary earlier in the book, and I think that's because he was being subtle earlier, and now he is showcasing his authority.

Reunions continuing! Lovely

... I wish we had gotten more of Elizabeth's relationship with Maggie before her death instead of just memories after, but I'm so glad that Maggie still matters

Characters talking about how the family just keeps repeating the same mistakes.... yup

The flashback chapter was nice-- I loved getting more facets of moments we know and the snippets of ones we didn't.

I'm definitely going to finish this before I sleep, huh.
