Not to belabour the point but I was unexpectedly attacked again. Why is the African serving wine as a servant (slave?) even in the times of Pontius Pilate? Like dude, this was 2000 years ago. I know that slavery existed and may be I am reading too much into it but these characterizations and descriptions seem to be some way. Eg., why are they termed by “race” when others are a man or woman…

These are so beautiful but I’m lowkey too dumb for poetry - I have to reread each song a few times lol. Lowkey embarrassing but I thought these were zen love poems but they are apparently love poems to the divine 🫠 so I had to restart the book again

Just read the first 20 pages and I am so horrified yet so intrigued! The coloniality of it all is too much but the kids are so fascinating. Can't wait to see how much Lilith is changing to become older & maybe jaded and the differences the children's generation will bring?

I’m obsessed! What the heck? Why is this so good? I almost wish I could throw caution to the wind and binge this asap! But well, gotta labour! Okay actual plot - Lilith is a strong woman because I can’t just imagine dealing with the complexity of all that’s being presented! I like the way we’ve been held and are just going with Lilith’s flow!

I’m three chapters in and this is getting darker and sadder. Why did I go in thinking this was going to be a fun fantastical story? I’m so intrigued but it’s all just too deep and depressing.

At this point, it feels like both the author and I don’t know where this book is supposed to be going. The author seems to have no idea of the way forward and is just pulling out random short storylines to deploy and abandon as soon as a new one comes. Wish this book was better edited for tightness of the plot as I want to love it.

I have such bad luck this week. Where is this going? It seems so self absorbed!
