Emily is on page 11 of 184 of Libraries that Learn: Keys to Managing Organizational Knowledge
Libraries struggle with change management, and with change in general. We need to get better about writing down and externalizing our cognitive processes so that they don't get lost as life changes happen.

I have recently become hyperfixated on Magic, on playing, on the lore, on the community, on the gathering - and I am HOOKED. I read one of the War of the Sparks books, but figured I'd go back and see some of the lore this way.

“The 2010 study didn’t just find that female politicians were seen as less caring. It found that this perception inspired moral outrage in male and female study participants, who viewed such women with contempt, anger and/or disgust. This was not the case for their male counterparts.” - Pg 269

I’ve known there are discrepancies in studies involving women. But now I’m horribly aware of the huge data gap.

“Studies have shown that a belief in your own personal objectivity, or a belief that you are not sexist, makes you Les objective and more likely to behave in a sexist way. Men (women were not found to exhibit this bias) who believe they are objective in hiring decisions are more likely to hire a male applicant than an identically described female applicant.”

This is such a striking tale that uses the story of the Wizard of Oz to comment and critique systems of power, oppression, and the pain those who are under them suffer. As someone who loved the Wizard of Oz books growing up, this has been an eye-opening read as an adult.
