The first chapter discusses Russia, its geography, and what this means for that nation - limited if any access to year-round open ports not clogged seasonally with ice. Published in 2015, it does provide perspective on Russia's goals with Ukraine today. (Still, I support the Ukranian people - but I have a much clearer concept of Putin's motives here.)

This is close to halfway, as the book ends at 80% - the rest is sources and index.

The first third of the book (#1 in the series) is completed. This part rates a near-4 for inventiveness but there are way way too many characters introduced. We shall see as the book progresses...
