This is my third reading of this novel. Can't get enough of the time period setting, and Stephen King's rendering of the story. My new favorite King.

Great story, well crafted and well performed. Very enjoyable and involving.

Loved this book, despite the severe subject matter. Wallace and Weiss create a highly personalized telling of this historic event, from the military, political, and civilian viewpoints and they pay attention to the Japanese civilian cost of the war and the bombing. No one walked away from this feeling elated, yet all the other choices to be made were also horrible. War is truly hell.

This is an engrossing read which covers the detailed backstory of the efforts which resulted in the first and second use of a nuclear weapon and the end of the Second World War.
