Almost put it down a quarter of the way through. (I may be unusually temperamental while locked down and missing my job). Feelings the beginnings of investment in the plot and characters... optimistic. 😀

I don’t intend to ever Finish this book currently. It’s a regular dip in for me when I feel the need for a little stoicism....

love this author and this series of books . Slow going on this book and i oscillate between loving it and slogging. A plethora of key characters abandoning their humanity seems to be breaking my connection with the story

Close enough in detail to Roman legions fiction that it actually jars when a divergent detail emerges. Pace isn’t frantic but actually rather enjoying.

I like the constant references to and interweaving of diverse mythology. The story though not so much. Taking a break. Not sure I will be back...

Struggling to engage with this. Love the author, what to love the book. Somebody tell me it gets rolling soon?
