I don't read a lot of nonfiction books but this one is up there with one of the best ever. Just like the radio show the stories are raw and real and moving and binding and totally relatable in their honesty. They are also short enough to be great reading aloud material :)

I don't deny the television show is good but, as usual, the book is just so much better. Bring on the next one...

I loved this. Maybe not as much as I love Owen Me any or A Widow but his voice is just so distinct and resonates with me in such a profound way. Also the humour and the rawness of life is unique that I am always a little sad when I finish one of his books as I won't be able to read it again for the first time.

I am absolutely loving this. McEwan is a master of the English language. Trite but true!

As I always find with Fitzgerald he is both beautiful and tragic; this novel even more so than Gatsby as it is clear that the characters reflect the author and his temperamental flighty wife

"I had learned already not the empty the well of my writing; but always to stop when there was something there in the deep part of the well, and let it refill at night from the springs that fed it." I am loving this! His writing is so... real and simple yet complex and meaningful (sigh)
